We are pleased to announce the completion of the first phase of the SeedOne renovation project at The Rock Assembly of God in Sterling, Colorado. Through this transformation, the church now has renewed facilities that reflect its vibrant mission and heart for the community. With these improvements, The Rock Assembly of God is better equipped to serve, reach, and disciple more people for Christ, advancing its impact and effectiveness in sharing the gospel and meeting the needs of the Sterling community. Thank you for all that volunteered and gave to make this a reality!
When Pastor Timothy Hazen and his wife Linda stepped into leadership at The Rock Assembly of God in May 2023, they saw more than a church building. They saw potential. Located in the heart of Sterling, Colorado, this former elementary school turned church campus covers an entire city block. “We immediately sensed a great potential for the area to grow and reach out to neighboring communities,” Pastor Tim shared. “Our first goal was to restore confidence among the body of believers.”
Sterling, a town of around 13,000 residents, reflects the hardworking roots of eastern Colorado. It’s a community marked by agriculture, blue-collar industry, and resilience, but also burdened by real challenges such as poverty, addiction, and limited access to stable housing and transportation. Many in the community continue to search for purpose, value, and hope.
At The Rock Assembly of God, these challenges have long been felt. For years, aging facilities and limited resources made necessary building upgrades seem out of reach. “The lack of finances and able-bodied individuals had placed the facilities in need,” Pastor Timothy explained. “We were growing, but we did not see any hope of accomplishing some very important upgrades.” That changed when SeedOne stepped in with tools, hearts, and hands ready to serve.
Beginning September 26, 2025, SeedOne volunteers arrived in Sterling to revitalize The Rock’s campus, and the work is now complete. The transformation not only gave the church a much-needed facelift but also significantly improved efficiency, reducing gas and electric costs by nearly $800 per month. Those savings are now being redirected into ministry and outreach. “SeedOne has brought hope and excitement back into the body and the neighborhood,” said Pastor Tim. “People are looking at us with curiosity and wonder, opening opportunities for conversation and ministry.”
Even more significant than the physical renovation is the spiritual renewal it has sparked. “The congregation is filled with excitement and anticipation for what God will do to lead others into the newly transformed building,” Pastor Tim shared. This project stands as more than paint and repairs. It is a visible testimony that God is still working, still rebuilding, and still inviting His people to be part of something greater. The Rock Assembly of God is now positioned for greater community outreach and effectiveness in making disciples.
